Fall Bazaar – 2015
Saturday, October 10th 7 AM until 1 PM
Our 8th Annual Fall Bazaar is fast approaching!
Funds raised this year, as decided by the Bazaar Committee and the Church Council, will be divided as follows: 85% toward the principal of our "Raise the Roof" loan, 10% to Outreach programs and 5% will remain as "seed money" for the next year's bazaar.
This is a church-wide project and we ask that ALL our membership take some part in helping either by donation of items for the Yard Sale, Bake Sale, Book Sale, or Raffle Baskets; volunteering to help on the day of the Bazaar, or setting up before or cleaning up after. Tax credit forms are available to you for the items you donate.
Below is a list of the wonderful people who have agreed to donate their time and talents as leadership for this year's bazaar. Please feel free to contact them to let them know of your interest and how you would be willing to help!
Fall Bazaar Coordinator - Jennifer Smith
Baked Goods/Frozen Dinners - Coordinators are Lisa Reichstein - Kathleen King - Martha Bloss
Baked goods will be sold “By the Pound”. We are looking for items, that are a bit different from the ordinary chocolate chip cookie, which will freeze well. This way folks can have their “Holiday Baking” done for them. Keep in mind when deciding that larger cookies, with good density, will weigh more and mean more profit. Frozen dinner entrees will again be part of the event as well and pre-orders will be available for church members.
Craft Sale - Coordinators are Kathleen King & Lisa Reichstein
We have many talented men and women in our church. We would love to have homemade crafts that you would be willing to share for the benefit of the church. Crafts should not be expensive to purchase. People love to be able to pick up something small for a neighbor, co-worker, mailman, beautician, etc, with that craftsman's touch. Crafts made for the Bazaar should be marked with your name, phone number and an estimate of the amount of money you invested. Please leave them on top of the pews in the Fellowship Hall.
Book Sale - Coordinators are Connie Dewees and Lynsey McLean
This has always been a popular part of our Bazaar. We would like to ask for gently used books that you have read and enjoyed. Adult, Young Adult / Children's fiction, coffee table books, biographies/autobiographies and cookbooks are especially appreciated. You can bring your contribution to the church and we have provided drop-off boxes in the Fellowship Hall under the pews. Please help us by placing your books in boxes marked by genre. If there isn't one for yours, just leave them on the pew.
Soup & Sandwich Lunch - Coordinators are Doris Boles & Mary Johnson
We hope that you will come and join us for lunch in the Fellowship Hall. Lunch will be from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. This will give you the opportunity to browse through the Bazaar!
Raffles - Coordinators are Pam Kohan - Janet Hofstetter - Cindy Collie
The Support Team, who usually head up the Football Parking at our church, will be selling $5.00 Raffle Tickets at our home games for a 2015 Season Reserved Football Parking Pass or equivalent cash value ($120.00). They would also like for church members to take some of the tickets to sell to friends or co-workers who may be interested in a free season of football parking or a little extra Christmas spending money. Pam Kohan will be collecting items for the Bazaar’s Basket raffle starting August 24th until Sept 7th, in order for the baskets to be previewed prior to Bazaar [for your bids]. See the poster in narthex for ‘requested themed items’ for the baskets.
The Outreach Team will be sponsoring two gift baskets to raffle as part of the church’s focus on Hunger Ministry through the Fall Church Bazaar. A raffle ticket will be “sold” for a donated food item (canned good or packaged food). Proceeds will be given to a local hunger ministry. One hunger ministry gift basket will have a soup theme (in honor of the Joy Soup kitchen) and one gift basket will have a coffee theme (in honor of Lutheran coffee drinkers).
Yard Sale - Coordinators are Paul & Suellen Biel - Tommy & Jennifer Smith
White Elephant Sale - Coordinators are Paul Biel and Tommy Smith
This is, of course, a good opportunity for everyone (your family & friends included) to clean out and donate items to the church that can be sold. Children should find this to be a good time to donate gently used toys and feel a part of the effort. If you have small items, you may bring them to church and place them in the Fellowship Hall on the pews. We will accept larger items, like furniture. If you will call Tommy Smith we can arrange pick-up, if needed. NO CLOTHING, PLEASE!
Calling All Cooks and Bakers
It’s time to start working on the “good eats” part of the bazaar. We will once again sell baked goods by weight, and ready to eat freezer meals by the package.
As we continue to “fine tune” our process, there are a few changes in the works. This year we are narrowing the freezer meal choices, but also offering some on a “pre-order” basis. We have also evaluated the baked goods sale and to avoid some of the last minutes problems
from last year, will have some more definite guidelines for all of our Betty Crocker's. But first, we need volunteers.
A sign up sheet is available in the narthex and more details are forthcoming. Thanks!
Cindy Collie and Janet Hofstetter
