 Welcome to Women of ELCA

Are you a woman who attends a Lutheran congregation? If so, then you are a member of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Here at Our Redeemer, two Women of the ELCA groups meet each month:

The Morning Group meets at ORLC on the second Tuesday of each month from 10-12 noon. Here women enjoy fellowship, Bible Study and projects to support Lutheran World Relief such as Health Kits.

New on the scene is the WELCA Eve Circle with meetings on the first Thursday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at ORLC. We are enjoying fellowship with a team approach for refreshments and a program. We are planning projects to support local charities.

Newcomers are welcomed and encouraged to attend! Join us and bring a friend!

Why is a women’s organization needed in the 21st century? We often live very far from family and have busy lives that have little time for fellowship with other women. Many times we become very isolated, lacking support from others who can encourage us in our daily walk with God. Women need connections to others, older and younger, in order to pass on and receive shared wisdom and life stories, and to learn form one another’s faith walks so we can become strong, vibrant women. The mission of Women of the ELCA is “to mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ”

In addition to monthly meetings Women of the ELCA at ORLC participate in many activities that benefit others here at home and throughout the world. Examples are

ORLC’s Annual Fall/Christmas Craft Bazaar

Support of Lutheran World Relief with collection of materials and creating School Kits and Health Kits.

Collection of pop tabs, Campbell’s soup labels and pennies to benefit others

Participation in NC Women of the ELCA Conference Fall and Spring Gatherings and NC Synodical Women’s Organization Annual Gathering.

We welcome you to join us!
