ORLC currently has three choirs:

Angel Choir
The Angel Choir is composed of the children of the church. They meet on Sunday at 9:15 AM and are led by Tom Huener. There are about 10 young choristers who enthusiastically sing, clap and do it all by memory and in tune. Try that, you grown-ups—it ain’t easy!

Handbell Choir
Tom also directs the Handbell Choir (Redeeming Ringers) - which meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:15 PM. We have a two octave set of bells, requiring at least 8 players (two bells per person). If you can count, you can probably play. If you can’t count…. Give it a try anyway. There are right and wrong ways to ring a bell and we know both ways. We’ll teach you the right way.

Adult Choir
The Adult Choir rehearses under the direction of Tom Huener on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM. This choir does everything from 15th century motets to jazz to 20th century music. A plus is that we get the most comfortable, reserved, seats in the church.

Our amazing organists/pianists (Connie Widney and Carolyn Green) accompany the Angel and Adult choirs for rehearsals and at services. The only requirement for joining these choirs is a desire to sing or play a bell. The ability to read music is always a plus, but never a requirement. All the choirs are always looking for new members and no auditions are necessary.
To join, just come to a rehearsal. It’s as simple as that. If you are a parent and would like your child to sing in the Angel Choir but aren’t sure they’d be comfortable, you are welcome to stay during the rehearsal to give your young chorister confidence.
For more information, or to join a choir, contact Tom Huener, (252)355-5549, huenert@ecu.edu.
